Spurs Boss Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not Real Fans'

Fulham Start Strong to Beat Tottenham and Increase Tension on Frank

Spurs supporters who jeered goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were told afterwards "those individuals can't be real Tottenham supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.

Tottenham conceded two scores in the opening initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth Premier League at home loss of 2025.

However the primary talking point was the visitors' second goal when Vicario lost possession far beyond his area.

The goalkeeper ventured out to deal with a high pass and took the ball near the touchline.

But, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was collected by King.

King passed the ball off to Welsh midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the touchline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments later when the ball went to the keeper again, some Tottenham fans booed him.

Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and once more at full-time.

A particular of those booing episodes really angered the manager.

"I heard a few of our fans reportedly booed the situation and booed following, which, in my opinion is completely unacceptable," the Dane commented about the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] can't be true Spurs fans that act that way. Fair enough booing following the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are behind one another moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute advantage before Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an improved second-half showing.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Hart remarked that the second score was "completely preventable".

"I do understand the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I know the part the keeper is performing. He's a great team player, he's a true figure in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"He was deeply implicated in what turned out to be the decisive score."

'It is Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Match

Italy international Vicario is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old said after the match that he had to accept the feedback.

"That score was a mistake of my own, I take responsibility for it," he commented.

"My aim was to kick the ball far and I just struck the ball in a poor way. That made an more difficult mountain to overcome."

He said being booed "comes with football".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "The team can't be influenced by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to remain more composed, to focus on ourselves. We are missing in calmness and calmness to overturn outcomes. This match is a poor defeat and it's hard to accept."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Went Back to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's mistake, it was not an simple goal for Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the second most distant top division score of the season – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which incidentally too occurred on the same day.

Wilson said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an open goal to target.

Ten moments elapsed between the keeper coming out of his box and Wilson striking – which was five seconds after the clearance.

"I felt like the keeper was out of the area for ages," Wilson remarked.

"It amazed me not one of the defenders went back to the goal line. When none of them defended the net, my eyes lit up a bit.

"Udogie fell as well, which gave me a bit of extra time. Then it was all about attempting to achieve the right contact and place it on target. I had a positive sense, the moment it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, All Appears to Work Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - Frank

While Vicario's error dominated headlines, this was an overall bad day for Spurs to continue their home ground struggles.

This was their tenth at home defeat of the year in the league, a joint club record matching 1994 and 2003.

The side still have home fixtures against Frank's former club the Bees and champions Liverpool to play before the close of the year.

Just a single of those wins have come after the manager took over from his predecessor in the off-season.

"If you are behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated the boss.

"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to go against you too – the first was a deflected attempt, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have lost an additional game. Every game has a single story, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The later period was much better and hopefully an aspect we can use to develop."

Spurs have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home capital clashes for the initial time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are recording 9.5 attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the division – their poorest rates on record in a single season (since at least 2003-04).

Ex- Cottagers midfield player Murphy commented that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He's got take the criticism," the pundit remarked. "He's taken a prestigious job at a major team with enormous anticipation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.

"The performances at home have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
